Summarize Available Fungal Taxonomic and Distributional Records from Flora e Funga do Brasil

fungaR::funga_version()

Description

Retrieves and summarizes metadata of the currently available versions of the combined plant and fungal taxonomic and distributional checklist published by the Flora e Funga do Brasil (FFB), hosted by the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. The metadata includes version number, publication date, number of records, and direct access URLs.

Details

This function accesses the IPT metadata for the FFB dataset and extracts version information for each published data release. It returns a cleaned and structured summary as a data frame.

Value

A data.frame with the following columns:

Version: Version number of the dataset release.
Published_on: Timestamp of the dataset release.
Records: Number of records in the release (FFB publishes plants and fungi together in one archive; funga_parse() is what subsets this down to the Fungi kingdom).
URL: Direct link to the dataset version on the IPT portal.
